Goals in Spain: Real Madrid hit five at Tenerife & Xavi’s vision sees Barcelona past Malaga

Barcelona 2 – Malaga 1 (La Liga, February 27, 2010) As has so often been the case this season Pedro rescued Barcelona with the opening goal after the home side had failed to break down the Malaga defence for two-thirds of the match. Valdo set the cat amongst the pigeons equalising with nine minutes to go. Lionel Messi tapped home the winner three minutes later, but the goal belonged to Xavi who played a glorious ball to Alves who crossed for the Argentine.

Tenerife 1 – Real Madrid 5 (La Liga, February 27, 2010) Great work from left back Marcelo set up serial goal scorer Gonzalo Higuain to fire Real Madrid in front at Tenerife. Five minutes before the break Gonzalo Higuain doubled the lead for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. Tenerife found a way back into the match thanks to some pretty bizarre refereeing, Ayoze Garcia heading the ball out of Iker Casillas’ hands. Minutes later Kaka restored Real’s two-goal cushion. Late goals from Cristiano Ronaldo (a penalty) and Raul added gloss to the scoreline.

Getafe 0 – Real Zaragoza 2 (La Liga, February 27, 2010) Humberto Suazo capitalised on a poor back pass to give Zaragoza the lead at Getafe. On twenty minutes Suazo, surely one of the signings of the January transfer window, doubled the lead with a header.

Numancia 1 – Gimnastic 1 (Segunda Division, February 27, 2010)

Huesca 1 – Real Sociedad 0 (Segunda Division, February 27, 2010)

Albacete 1 – Villarreal B 1 (Segunda Division, February 27, 2010)
