Barcelona crush Racing; Sevilla end Mallorca’s home record; Depor squeeze past Xerez

Barcelona 4 – Racing Santander 0 (La Liga, February 20, 2010) (Longer highlights here.) It took Barcelona just seven minutes to open the scoring against Santander, Andres Iniesta finishing from a lofted ball from the back. Thierry Henry doubled the lead just before the half hour with a low free-kick. A brilliant free kick from Rafael Marquez wrapped up a completely one sided first half for the Catalans. Thierry Henry picked u pa needless booking at the start of the second half for a cheeky trip on Oriol. 18-year-old fringe player Thiago Alcantara closed out the match with a fourth sixth minute from time.

Mallorca 1 – Sevilla 3 (La Liga, February 20, 2010) Mallorca’s 100% home record came to an end following a fine Sevilla comeback after Mario Suarez had put them ahead after five minutes. Jesus Navas equalised, capitalising on some poor keeping from Auoate. After Alvaro Negredo was sent off for Sevilla and Ivan Ramis receoved a red card for the home side, Sevilla scored two goals in the second half to win the match – Igor Dragutinovic scored a cracking free-kick and Diego Perotti claimed the third from a Navas cross.

Deportivo La Coruna 2 – Xerez 1 (La Liga, February 20, 2010) Depor raced out the traps against rock-bottom Xerez as Andres Guardado slotted home a third minute penalty and Riki then made it 2-nil after just seven minutes. The nailed-on relegation strugglers pulled themselves back into the game in the 38th minute when Mario Bermejo steered a precision header inside the far post.
