Independiente 0 – River Plate 1 (Apertura, November 16, 2008) River won for the first time in 13 attempts to move off the foot of the table, Radamel Falcao Garcia headed the winner from a corner in the second half to lift River above Godoy Cruz on goal difference.

Boca Juniors 2 – Velez Sarsfield 3 (Apertura, November 16, 2008) Mariano Uglessich headed Velez in front after only 17 minutes, and Nicolas Cabrera made it two in the 51st minute. Juan Forlin pulled one back after a Riquelme free-kick struck the underside of the bar. But a superbly taken goal five minutes later by teenager Jonathan Cristaldo restored Velez’s two-goal lead. Rodrigo Palacio pulled another back with six minutes left but it was not enough for Boca.
