Caracas 3 – Lanus 1 (Copa Libertadores, February 25, 2009) Two minutes into the second half, Jose Manuel Rey rifled a 25-yard free-kick that hit the crossbar and bounced down just over the line. Dario Figueroa scored the second minutes later with a cool finish of Prieto’s cross. Caracas went 3-up when Rafael Castellin buried the ball from a pass by Figueroa, while Jose Sand netted a 86th minute consolation.

Chivas Guadalajara 6 – Everton 2 (Copa Libertadores, February 25, 2009) Chivas took a 4-goal lead into the break after Sergio Ponce, Ramon Morales (penalty), Alberto Medina and Marco Fabian De La Mora scored in the first half. Everton roared back after the break with goals from Roberto Gutierrez and a Ezequiel Miralles penalty. But Chivas killed the game with two late goals from Javier Hernandez in the 77th and 88th minutes.

Gremio 0 – Universidad de Chile 0 (Copa Libertadores, February 25, 2009) Gremio dominated most of the match but failed to score for their troubles.
