Goals from Argentina & Brazil: Huracan go top with one round left as Boca & River both lose; Atletico Mineiro hold top position in Brazil as Adriano hits trips for Flamengo

Huracan 3 – Arsenal Sarandi 0 (Clausura, June 21, 2009) Arsenal were a man short for more than an hour after Cristian Pellerano was sent off for a second booking and striker Mario Bolatti headed Huracan in front shortly before halftime. Two goals in the final nine minutes sealed the win. Patricio Toranzo shot into the roof of the net and two minutes later Matias Defederico raced between two defenders to steer home the third.

Boca Juniors 1 – Gimnasia La Plata 2 (Clausura, June 21, 2009) Gimnasia took a surprise lead after only three minutes with a headed goal by Diego Alonso. Boca equalised with a penalty from Martin Palermo close to halftime but Gimnasia snatched victory with Ariel Aguero’s header in the 54th minute.

Godoy Cruz 1 – River Plate 0 (Clausura, June 21, 2009) A ninth-minute goal by Ivan Borghello helped the home side stay clear of the relegation positions.

Lanus 1 – Velez Sarsfield 1 (Clausura, June 21, 2009) Velez fell behind to a goal by Jose Sand and had Fabian Cubero sent off in the 48th minute but equalised with a 69th minute penalty by Rodrigo Lopez.

Santos 2 – Atletico Mineiro 3 (Campeonato Brasileiro, June 21, 2009) Santos’ Neymar opened the scoring in the 45th minute with a powerful shot after outmaneuvering several Atletico players. Diego Tardelli equalised in the 60th and five minutes later Evandro added a second for the league leaders. Carlos Alberto made it 3-1 in the 74th minute, Santos chalking up a late second through Leo two minutes from time.

Corinthians 3 – Sao Paulo 1 (Campeonato Brasileiro, June 21, 2009) Cristian, captain Chico and substitute Juciclei scored for Corinthians, while Ronaldo had a quiet game for the hosts. Richarlyson scored a consolation for Sao Paulo.

Flamengo 4 – Internacional 0 (Campeonato Brasileiro, June 21, 2009) Adriano was the hero with a hat-trick for Flamengo. He opened the scoring the 13th minute when he lobbed keeper Lauro from the edge of the box. Emerson increased Flamengo’s lead in the 36th minute and Adriano scored with a left-footed free kick before halftime. Adriano completed a hat-trick with a 68th minute penalty.
