Estudiantes win the Copa Libertadores; Goals from Brazil

Cruzeiro 1 – Estudiantes 2 (Agg. 1-2) (Copa Libertadores final second leg, July 15, 2009) After an even first half, Henrique put Cruzeiro in front in the 52nd minute with a slightly deflected long-range effort. The Argentine side hit back five minutes later, Gaston Fernandez finishing at the near post. Juan Sebastian Veron set up the winner, a corner headed home by Mauro Boselli. Estudiantes claimed its fourth Libertadores title and its first in 39 years.

Internacional 4 – Fluminense 2 (Campeonato Brasileiro, July 15, 2009) With 15 minutes remaining the match was tied 2-2, until Taison popped up with two late goals for the hosts. The match saw four players sent off.
