Estudiantes score after 8 seconds but lose in Lima in the Libertadores; Robinho nets a brace in Santos win

Alianza Lima 4 – Estudiantes 1 (Copa Libertadores, February 18, 2010) All began well for reigning champs Estudiantes when Jose Sosa opened the scoring after only eight seconds, the midfielder capitalising on an error in the Peruvian side’s defence to notch the fastest goal in the competition’s history. But the hosts responded well and turned the game on its head with goals after 18 and 33 minutes from Wilmer Aguirre. After the break Aguirre completed his hat-trick 16 minutes from time, before Aguirre then turned provider for Jose Fernandez to seal an emphatic win nine minutes later.

Univ. de Chile 1 – Caracas 0 (Copa Libertadores, February 18, 2010) Juan Olivera scored the game’s only goal from the penalty spot after just two minutes.


Santos 6 – Bragantino 3 (Paulista, February 18, 2010) Robinho scored twice, the first a close range finish and the second a fine lob over the keeper. Santos are four points clear at the top of the table.
