Boca Juniors & River Plate draw the SuperClasico; Ronaldo scores again for Corinthians

Boca Juniors 1 – River Plate 1 (Clausura, April 19, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) Defending champions Boca went ahead in the 59th minute with a 25-metre shot from 35-year-old forward Martin Palermo. But Marcelo Gallardo converted a majestic 25-yard free-kick to earn River a share of the spoils in the SuperClasico.

Newell’s Old Boys 1 – Godoy Cruz 1 (Clausura, April 19, 2009) Leandro Caruso scored for Godoy Cruz, before Leonel Vangioni equalized for the hosts.

San Martin 3 – San Lorenzo 0 (Clausura, April 19, 2009) Patricio Perez and Marcelo Quinteros put San Martin 2-up in the first half, before Cristian Canio sealed the victory in the 66th minute.

Lanus 2 – Tigre 1 (Clausura, April 19, 2009) Norberto Paparatto gave Tigre a first half lead but Maxi Velasquez rifled in the equalised three minutes later and Eduardo Salvio scored the winner in the 63rd minute after a weaving run by Jose Sand.


Corinthians 2 – Sao Paulo 0 (Paulista Final, April 19, 2009) Corinthians’ first goal arrived in the 55th minute, Ronaldo played a beautiful pass to Jorge Henrique, his shot ricocheted off the post, and Douglas was on hand to score. Ronaldo put the game out of reach when he scored in the 58th minute, beating the offside trap Ronaldo outpaced a defender and fired a shot past Sao Paulo goalkeeper Bosco.
