Liverpool ease past West Ham; Newcastle secure the Championship title

Liverpool 3 – West Ham 0 (Premier League, April 19, 2010) (Longer highlights here.) Yossi Benayoun scored against his old club in the 19th minute, chesting home a free-kick from Gerrard. David Ngog doubled the lead just before the half hour, Benayoun was again involved with the final pass played by Maxi Rodriguez. Liverpool wrapped up the game on the hour, another Gerrard free-kick was flicked on by Kyrgiakos and then knocked into his own net by Robert Green.

Plymouth 0 – Newcastle 2 (Championship, April 19, 2010) The Toon secured the Championship title thanks to a towering header from Andy Carroll in the 20th minute and then a second from Wayne Routledge eight minutes later following a terrific through ball from Barton. Mallorca 2 – Osasuna 0 (La Liga, April 19, 2010) Ruben Gonzalez headed Mallorca into the lead ten minutes before the break at home to Osasuna. Alhassane Keita added the second late on.

Arminia Bielefeld 1 – Kaiserslautern 2 (Bundesliga II, April 19, 2010) Chris Katongo gave the home side the lead three minutes before the break from the penalty spot. Goals at the start and end of the second half from Sidney Sam and Srdjan Lakic gave Kaiserslautern the victory.

Sporting Lisbon 2 – Vitoria Setubal 1 (Liga Sagres, April 19, 2010) an emphatic header from Collin gave Vitoria a surprise lead. Sporting turned the match round just after the hour, Joao Moutinho equalised from the penalty spot before former Spurs striker Helder Postiga grabbed the winner.

Trabzonspor 2 – Kasimpasa 0 (Super Lig, April 19, 2010) Egemen Korkmaz headed the opener in the 57th minute. Umut Bulut added the second on 90 minutes with the Kasimpasa keeper up the other end as the away side pushed for an equaliser.
