Yokohama move into 2nd beating Yamagata; Gamba score five to go 5th; Sendai slip up

Yamagata 0 – Yokohama F.Marinos 2 (J-League, June 26, 2011) Japan international Yuzo Kurihara (44) and Kazuma Watanabe (90) scored either side of the half-time whistle for the visitors, handing Yamagata their ninth loss of the fledgling campaign and lifting Yokohama into second place.

Gamba Osaka 5 – Sanfrecce Hiroshima 3 (J-League, June 26, 2011) Defender Sota Nakazawa opened Gamba’s account in the third minute from a Yasuhito Endo free-kick, and the excellent Endo made it 2-0 with his third goal in as many games on 34 minutes with a stunning curler. Hiroshima striker Koki Morisaki halved the deficit with a low drive from 15-yards in first-half injury time, but Gamba needed just 10 minutes from the restart to find the net again through Shoki Hirai. Koji Makajima kept Hiroshima in touch with an answering goal in the 74th minute, but back-to-back strikes from Hayato Sasaki (78) and Kazumichi Takagi (85) left the visitors reeling.

Shimizu S-Pulse 1 – Vegalta Sendai 0 (J-League, June 26, 2011) Alex Brosque converted Kosuke Ota’s pass in the 81st minute to hand fourth-placed Sendai its first loss of the season.
