Serie A: Huntelaar silences the critics with an AC Milan injury-time double; Inter sneak past Fiorentina; Juve lose

Catania 0 – AC Milan 2 (Serie A, November 29, 2009) Just as it seemed like both sides had settled for a point, Milan substitute Klaas-Jan Huntelaar volleyed in his first goal for the club from edge of the area, although Catania goalkeeper Mariano Andujar will have to explain how he let the ball squirm under his body. The goal lifted a huge burden from the Dutchman’s shoulders and he added his and Milan’s second moments later, lobbing Andujar from just inside the area with a goal that Ronaldinho would have been proud of.

Inter Milan 1 – Fiorentina 0 (Serie A, November 29, 2009) Inter increased their stronghold on Serie A with a last-gasp win over the Viola as Diego Milito won a questionable penalty and the Argentine dispatched the spot-kick with aplomb.

Cagliari 2 – Juventus 0 (Serie A, November 29, 2009) A first half wonder goal by Nene, and a late breakaway second by substitute Alessandro Matri did the damage as the Bianconeri produced their second dismal performance in the space of a week.

Atalanta 1 – Roma 2 (Serie A, November 29, 2009) Roma kept up their encouraging form with a 2-1 success at struggling Atalanta, who took the lead through Fabio Ceravolo after 13 minutes. Mirko Vucinic found the target for Roma to make it 1-1 just before half-time and Simone Perrotta struck the crucial goal on 64 minutes.

Chievo 1 – Palermo 0 (Serie A, November 29, 2009) Elvis Abbruscato’s 54th-minute effort secured a 1-0 win for Chievo over Palermo, who had Fabio Liverani sent off late on.

Bari 2 – Siena 1 (Serie A, November 29, 2009) Bari have built their success this season on a solid defensive foundation but they had to come from behind to beat bottom club Siena 2-1 after Simone Vergassola scored in only the third minute. Andrea Masiello drew Bari level in the 78th minute before Giuseppe Greco fired home the winner in stoppage time.

Parma 1 – Napoli 1 (Serie A, November 29, 2009) In-form Napoli stretched their unbeaten run to seven matches but were denied all three points in a 1-1 draw with Parma. German Denis broke the deadlock for Napoli in the 32nd minute, only for Nicola Amoruso to equalise five minutes from time.

Lazio 0 – Bologna 0 (Serie A, November 29, 2009)
