Late Cruz strike lifts Inter back to the Serie A summit; Lecce hold the Rossoneri; Del Piero continues to lead Juve’s revival

Lecce 1 – AC Milan 1 (Serie A, November 9, 2008) For the third game running Ronaldinho was set to be the saviour for Milan, the Brazilian converting Pato’s cutback in the 79th minute. But Lecce shocked the Rossoneri with a last minute equaliser from Guglielmo Stendardo.

Inter Milan 1 – Udinese 0 (Serie A, November 9, 2008) Inter had to wait until injury time to steal the three points to keep Mourinho top of the table, Julio Cruz bundled him a corner as the Nerazzurri won ugly.

Napoli 2 – Sampdoria 0 (Serie A, November 9, 2008) Napoli moved ahead when Mannini turned home Lavezzi’s cross-cum-shot at the back post. Marcelo Zalayeta sealed the points with the second 15 minutes from time.

Fiorentina 2 – Atalanta 1 (Serie A, November 9, 2008) Felipe Melo gave Fiorentina the lead with a 25-yard daisy-cutter that nestled in to bottom corner. The Viola’s lead was doubled three minutes later by Alberto Gilardino after great work by Jovetic. Floccari pulled a goal back from the spot.

Chievo 0 – Juventus 2 (Serie A, November 9, 2008) Alessandro Del Piero, who is arguably the best striker in Europe at present, continued his purple patch in front of goal with yet another free-kick for the scrapbook that gave the Chievo keeper no chance. In the 51st minute Iaquinta doubled Juve’s lead, scoring on the second attempt after his spot-kick was saved.

Lazio 3 – Siena 0 (Serie A, November 9, 2008) Mauro Zarate hit a stunning 58th minute free-kick to give Lazio the lead. With four minutes to go Rocchi turned in the second at the near post, and in injury time Rocchi hit a third after the Siena defense were all at sea.

Catania 2 – Cagliari 1 (Serie A, November 9, 2008) Jedaias Jeda took advantage of poor defending to head Cagliari in front in the sixth minute but Giuseppe Mascara equalised in the 37th minute. Rocco Sabato’s late free-kick saw Catania take the points.
