VIDEO: Liverpool’s Nemeth scores Hungary’s winner to dump Italy out the U20 World Cup; Ghana edge Korea in 5-goal thriller

Italy 2 – Hungary 3 (AET) (U20 World Cup, October 9, 2009) Liverpool striker Krisztian Nemeth was shoved in the area in the opening minute and Vladimir Koman scored from the spot. Italy lost Gentili 20 minutes in, but despite the man disadvantage the Azzurini rallied in the 82nd through Antonio Mazzotta. Both sides had players dismissed before the game went into extra time and in the 112th minute, Koman found Nemeth with a delightful pass and the striker made no mistake. Remarkably, just a minute later Italy equalised again when Giacomo Bonaventura ran at the Hungary defence and unleashed a shot which flew home. A second yellow to Michelangelo Albertazzi reduced the Italians to eight men and left their defense completely stretched, and Hungary took advantage when Nemeth chased down a long ball before showing great composure to steer the ball home.

South Korea 2 – Ghana 3 (U20 World Cup, October 9, 2009) Ghana took the lead on eight minutes through Dominic Adiyiah, Ransford Osei doubling the lead with an incisive left-foot finish. The Koreans pulled one back when Park Hee-Seong netted a looping header after 31 minutes. Adiyiah rounded off a fine performance with his second on 78 minutes, casually passing the ball home to seal the win.  Kim Dong-Sub hit a consolation header eight minutes from time.
