International friendlies & goals from the South American Under-20 Championships

Japan 5 – Finland 1 (International Friendly, February 4, 2009) Okazaki fired Japan in front on 15 minutes with a fierce left-foot volley after springing Finland’s offside trap. Okazaki bagged the second after breaking through the backline once more, this time finishing with a low right-foot drive. Shinji Kagawa stabbed home Japan’s third on the stroke of halftime. Roni Porokara snatched a goal back for Finland before Yuji Nakazawa headed in his side’s fourth and Michihiru Yasuda completed the rout.

Venezuela 0 – Brazil 3 (South American Under-20 Championships, February 4, 2009) Maylson’s low drive, a freak second from Giuliano after the keeper spilled the ball and Sandro’s well-taken third earned Brazil to comfortable win.

Paraguay 3 – Venezuela 0 (South American Under-20 Championships, February 2, 2009) Federico Santander broke the deadlock in spectactular circumstances, reeling off a first-time half volley from 25-yards out. The special strikes kept coming after the break, Hernan Perez added to his blossoming reputation weaving past three defenders before slotting home. Perez created the third in the final minutes, chipping over the keeper onto the woodwork for Ramirez to tap in.
