Home-based Argentina beat Panama

Argentina 3 – Panama 1 (International friendly, May 20, 2009) Argentina, fielding an experimental team entirely of home-based players, took the lead after Matias De Federico curled a left-footed shot into the top corner from just inside the penalty area after 27 minutes. Nelson Barahona took advantage of slack Argentine marking to grab a shock equaliser for the visitors two minutes later. Gonzalo Bergessio restored the hosts’ lead five minutes before halftime when he headed in De Federico’s cross. Bergessio completed the scoring six minutes from time with a left-foot shot after chesting down Montenegro’s cross.
