Internacional stun Copa Libertadores holders Estudiantes; Flamengo also bow out

Estudiantes 2 – Internacional 1* (Agg. 2-2) (Copa Libertadores, May 20, 2010) A dramatic and closesly fought tie was settled by an 89th minute away goal by Internacional’s Giuliano. Copa Libertadores holders Estudiantes had looked in control thanks to first half goals by Leandro Gonzalez (awesome assist by Juan Veron) and Enzo Perez (a terrific curler).

Univ. de Chile 1* – Flamengo 2 (Agg. 4-4) (Copa Libertadores, May 20, 2010) Flamengo brought themselves back into the tie, after a home leg 3-2 defeat, when Vagner Love headed home an audacious Adriano overhead kick. The home side responded with a glorious chip from Walter Montillo. Adriano scored Flamengo’s second on 73.


Santos Laguna 2 – Toluca 2 (Mexican Clausura final first leg May 10, 2010) Darwin Quintero put Santos ahead on 14 minutes. A well worked corner was finished by Diego Novaretti for the equaliser nine minutes later. Sinha put Santos in front again but Matias Vuoso found a late equaliser.


Colombia 0 – Ivory Coast 2 (U20 Toulon Tournament, May 20, 2010) A brace from Gerard Bi Goua Gohou in the 62nd and 66 minutes saw Ivory Coast past Colombia and would have had the scouts taking notes on the Neuchatel Xamax striker.
