Uniao Leiria 2 – Leixoes 1 (Liga Sagres, March 5, 2010) Marco Soares put Uniao ahead with a penalty (36), but second-half substitute Ze Manel equalised in the 68th minute, 11 minutes after coming on. Carlao got the winner with eight minutes left before Leixoes had Ricardo Joel sent off in the 90th minute. The win moved Uniao up to sixth, while their opponents remained second bottom.


Rapid Bucuresti 1 – FC Timisoara 0 (Liga 1, March 5, 2010) Third-placed Rapid picked up a crucial three points against second-place Timisoara in the race for the Romanian title, and the match was settled by a 35-yard left-footed howitzer fromBucharest’s Darjan Matic.


Wisla Krakow 0 – Arka Gdynia 1 (Ekstraklasa, March 5, 2010) Arka striker Joel Tshibamba took advantage of a mistake in the Wisla defence to race in on goal and score at the second attempt.

Korona 1 – Polonia Bytom 0 (Ekstraklasa, March 5, 2010) A second half header from Pavol Stano from a free-kick bagged the points for Korona.


Banfield 3 – Colon 1 (Clausura, March 5, 2010) Recent recruit Ruben Ramirez put Banfield ahead after just 13 minutes with a tremendous over-the-shoulder volley from a chipped through-ball, and Cristian Garcia doubled their lead 19 minutes later. Veteran frontman Esteban Fuertes cut Banfield’s lead in the 85th minute but Ramirez had the final say in the 90th minute to clinch victory. Banfield jumped above Colon, who fell to fifth, and are now just two points behind surprise leaders Godoy Cruz.
