The home side went ahead as Calvin Jong-a-Pin put through his own net after just 13 minutes. Moments later and their lead was doubled when Dirk Boerrigter scored a free-kick. In the second half and goals from Dustley Mulder and Benjamin De Ceulaer secured the win. Vitesse grabbed a late consolation when Mulder scored an own-goal with just seven minutes left.

Markus Hammerer gave Ried a lifeline on the stroke of halftime but a second half Steffen Hofmann penalty killed the game for Rapid.
