Hertha & Hamburg edge rivals to stay in Bundesliga title race

Hertha Berlin 2 – Werder Bremen 1 (Bundesliga, April 19, 2009) Per Mertesacker gave the visitors the lead two minutes before half-time but a late comeback netted Hertha all three points. Josip Simunic levelled the scores after 71 minutes and Raffael’s thundering drive from 18 yards three minutes from time gave Hertha their first win after three consecutive defeats.

Hamburg 2 – Hannover 1 (Bundesliga, April 19, 2009) Mladen Petric struck after only a minute when he connected perfectly with a Jerome Boateng cross inside the box to volley home. Petric grabbed his second from close range seven minutes after the break to take his season’s tally to 12 goals before Hanover’s Mikael Forssell pulled one back with a penalty in the 70th minute.
