DFB Pokal: Bayern snatch victory at Bochum; Greuther Furth KO Nurnberg

Bochum 1 – Bayern Munich 2 (DFB Pokal, December 20, 2011) Second-tier Bochum broke through Bayern’s backline in the 26th minute as Giovanni Federico converted Aydin’s cross from the right. Arjen Robben was guilty of failing to con the ref with a disgraceful dive in the Bochum area as Munich struggled to find an equaliser. In the 52nd minute Bayern drew level as Toni Kroos feathered a shot into the far post following Gomez’s through-ball. Bayern snatch a late, undeserved win win Arjen Robben converted a Ribery cross following Lahm’s interception.

Nurnberg 0 – Greuther Furth 1 (DFB Pokal, December 20, 2011) Nurnberg fell behind at home to lower league Greuther Furth on the quarter hour when Edgar Prib stooped to head home a corner.

Fortuna Dusseldorf 0 – Borussia Dortmund 0* (Penalties 4-5) (DFB Pokal, December 20, 2011) Dortmund were reduced to ten men following the first half sending-off of Patrick Owomoyela, and were pushed all the way by their hosts, who are top of the second division. Dortmund keeper Roman Weidenfeller denied Thomas Broeker in the shoot-out, and Ivan Perisic went on to score the decisive kick to take the Bundesliga champions through.

Hoffenheim 2 – FC Augsburg 1 (DFB Pokal, December 20, 2011) The two teams went into halftime tied at 1-1, but Hoffenheim’s Vedad Ibisevic chalked up the game-winner just a few minutes into the second half, making Augsburg one of two Bundesliga teams to be eliminated on Tuesday night.
