Bundesliga: Werder Bremen go top with last gasp equaliser at Wolfsburg; Hamburg and Schalke stumble; Hertha hammered by Frankfurt

Monchengladbach 1 – Schalke 0 (Bundesliga, November 28, 2009) Gladbach took a 5th minute lead against Schalke when a long ball was superbly plucked out the air before Marco Reus had the simple job of finding the net from 7-yards.

Werder Bremen 2 – Wolfsburg 2 (Bundesliga, November 28, 2009) Wolfsburg’s fantastic Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko broke the deadlock just before the interval at Werder with an outstanding solo goal in which he danced around the home defence before firing in the far corner. Bremen, second at the start of play, equalised just after the hour through Hugo Almeida after the Wolves had failed to clear a corner. Edin Dzeko restored the lead five minutes before the end with his second of the contest, only for Werder to grab an equaliser in the closing seconds when Per Mertesacker popped up with a goal to send them above Bayer Leverkusen on goal difference.

Mainz  1 – Hamburg 1 (Bundesliga, November 28, 2009) Hamburg made a lightning start against Mainz as Tunay Torun scored after three minutes following a long punt upfield. Tim Hoogland earned Mainz a point with an equaliser six minutes from time.

Hoffenheim 1 – Borussia Dortmund 2 (Bundesliga, November 28, 2009) Hoffenheim lost the ball in their own half after just three minutes of the match, and after Dortmund put together a couple passes Jakub Blaszczykowski fired the visitors in the lead. The Village Team drew level minutes after the break as Demba Ba powerfully headed home a corner. Nuri Sahin grabbed the winner for Dortmund from the penalty spot 11 minutes from time.

Nurnberg 0 – Freiburg 1 (Bundesliga, November 28, 2009) A 12th minute tap-in from Stefan Reisinger following a corner put Freiburg ahead away at Nurnberg.

Hertha Berlin 1 – Eintracht Frankfurt 3 (Bundesliga, November 28, 2009) Hertha conceded after 11 minutes at home to Frankfurt, a fabulous pass over the top picked out the run of full-back Patrick Ochs into the box and the number 2 coolly slotted the ball home. Two quick-fire goals from Maik Franz (70) and Alexander Meier (75) put the game beyond Hertha. Substitute Adrian Ramos grabbed a consolation for Hertha nine minutes from time, but the side still sit marooned at the bottom of the table.

Bochum 0 – Cologne 0 (Bundesliga, November 27, 2009) Cologne bounced back from their thrashing by Hoffenheim last weekend to earn a 0-0 draw at fellow strugglers Bochum on Friday night, but the result will do little to ease the pressure on coach Zvonimir Soldo.
