Bayern Munich 2 -Â Nurnberg 1 (Bundesliga, September 19, 2009) Mario Gomez thought he’d given Bayern the lead over Nurnberg when his shot hit the underside of the bar and fell on the line. Ten minutes into the second half Bayern struck, Ivica Olic slotting home after the hosts worked the ball through the visitors backline. Poor defending allowed Choupo-Moting to exploit a gap in defence to level, but a late winner from Daniel van Buyten handed Bayern the points.
Monchengladbach 2 – Hoffenheim 4 (Bundesliga, September 19, 2009) Gladback raced into a 2-lead lead against Hoffenhiem with goals from summer signing Juan Arango and Israeli striker Roberto Colautti. But the Village Team pulled themselves back into the match when Sajid Salihovic, aided by some joke goalkeeping, scored directly from a free-kick just yards away from the corner flag. Brazilian Maicosuel levelled matters on 86 minutes with further efforts from Edu and Demba Ba sealing a 4-2 win.
Hannover 1 – Borussia Dortmund 1 (Bundesliga, September 19, 2009) Nuri Sahin’s goal put Dortmund ahead just before the interval, but it proved a short-lived advantage as Didier Konan Ya equalised after half-time.
Stuttgart 0 – Cologne 2 (Bundesliga, September 19, 2009) Sebastian Freis’ first-half goal put the visitors in front and that had to wait until late on before Wilfried Sanou sealed the fine success.
Bochum 2 – Mainz 3 (Bundesliga, September 19, 2009) Andreas Ivanschitz cancelled out Mimoun Azaouagh’s opener, but Diego Klimowicz restored the home side’s lead before half-time. However, Schurrle’s second-half double ensured Mainz emerged from their trip to the Ruhrstadion with all three points.
