Bundesliga: Stuttgart continue slide as Bayern scrape a late home win; Winners Hoffenheim & Mainz amongst the goals

Bayern Munich 2 – Eintracht Frankfurt 1 (Bundesliga, October 24, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) It was panic stations in Munich on the hour as Frankfurt forward Alexander Meier slipped the visitors into a surprise lead. The lead didn’t last long as from an up-and-under in the box Arjen Robben bundled in the leveller. Daniel van Buyten’s incredible goalscoring season continued as the Belgian centre-half netted the winner two minutes from time.

Hoffenheim 3 – Nurnberg 0 (Bundesliga, October 24, 2009) A 30-yard howitzer from Hoffenheim defender Christian Eichner blasted the Village Team into the lead against Nurnberg. Goal-machine Vedad Ibisevic doubled the lead four minutes later with a superb finish from the edge of the box.

Hannover 1 – Stuttgart 0 (Bundesliga, October 24, 2009) Following a break down the right, Hannover forward Didier Ya Konan was able to burst into the Stuttgart and fire the hosts into a 31st minute lead.

Mainz 3 – Freiburg 0 (Bundesliga, October 24, 2009) Midway through the first half Mainz took the lead over Frieberg, the hosts broke in midfield before a delightful ball was chipped over the top to Andreas Ivanschitz who scored a stunning goal on the volley. A second half double from Tim Hoogland completed a comfortable home win.

Monchengladbach 0 – FC Cologne 0 (Bundesliga, October 24, 2009) Gladbach ended a five-game losing streak with a goalless draw at home to Cologne.
