Gold Cup: Costa Rica & Canada draw, Jamiaca beat El Salvador; Friendlies: Wolves win in Oz, Marseille see off Dinamo Bucharest, Goalless between RB Salzburg & Bayern Munich

Costa Rica 2 – Canada 2 (Gold Cup, July 10, 2009) Costa Rica and Canada advanced to the quarter finals. Andy Herron lobbed the keeper to put Costa Rica in front, two goals in four minutes from Patrice Bernier and Marcel De Jong turned the game on its head only for Walter Centeno claimed a fine free-kick to square things up. 

El Salvador 0 – Jamaica 1 (Gold Cup, July 10, 2009) Omar Cummings scored the only goal in the 70th minute of the match. Jamaica now await other results to see if they progress, El Salvador are eliminated.


Iraq 3 – Palestine 0 (International Friendly, July 10, 2009) The Asian champions won their first game on home soil for seven years thanks to goals from Mulla Mohamad, Younis Mahmoud and Loay Salah. 


Perth Glory 0 – Wolves 1 (Friendly, July 10, 2009) Sylvan Ebanks-Blake claimed the winner after just three minutes but the victory was soured as fellow striker Chris Iwelumo broke a metatarsal in his right foot and will miss the start of the Premier League season.

Marseille 2 – Dinamo Bucharest 1 (Friendly, July 10, 2009) Hatem Ben Arfa opened the scoring with a brilliant free-kick that whistled into the top corner. Mamadou Niang doubled the lead in the 22nd minute and Ionel Danciulescu claimed Dinamo’s goal.

RB Salzburg 0 – Bayern Munich 0 (Friendly, July 10, 2009) Both sides had chances in front of a record crowd at the Red Bull Arena.
