Winning PSG debut for Ancelotti; Montpellier edge Lyon; Nice suck at Brest

PSG 3 – Toulouse 1 (Ligue 1, January 14, 2012) Ancelotti saw PSH side easily beat Toulouse 3-1. Nene did a lot of the damage with a goal in each half, while Javier Pastore also found the target to give PSG a healthy lead. Daniel Braaten reduced Toulouse’s arrears but it came far too late to cause any panic in the PSG ranks.

Montpellier 1 – Lyon 0 (Ligue 1, January 14, 2012) Montpellier remain just three points adrift at the summit after Olivier Giroud’s strike sealed a 1-0 victory over fourth-placed Lyon.

Brest 1 – Nice 0 (Ligue 1, January 14, 2012) Brest lost 2-0 to Third Division Chamois Niortais in the cup last weekend but Eden Ben Basat’s goal proved enough for victory against Nice.

Caen 0 – Rennes 2 (Ligue 1, January 14, 2012) Jires Kembo Ekoko and Victor Montano netted for Rennes to keep them in fifth by virtue of a 2-0 win away to Caen.

St Etienne 1 – Sochaux 0 (Ligue 1, January 14, 2012) St Etienne claimed a narrow 1-0 success at home to struggling Sochaux as Kurt Zouma’s header 13 minutes from time boosted their European hopes.

Bordeaux 2 – Valenciennes 1 (Ligue 1, January 14, 2012) Bordeaux saw off Valenciennes 2-1 with first-half goals from Jussie and Nicolas Maurice-Belay. Foued Kadir pulled one back for the visitors, who also had Nicolas Mirin sent off.

Ajaccio 2 – Auxerre 1 (Ligue 1, January 14, 2012) Dennis Oliech broke the deadlock for Auxerre but they then had Anthony Le Tallec dismissed, and Ajaccio took full advantage to move ahead with goals from Eduardo and Fousseni Diawara. Samuel Bouhours and Armand Maire were then red carded, before half-time, to leave Ajaccio with just nine men, but they held on to their lead to notch a third straight win.
