Lyon sneak into Champions League; Auxerre end season in third; Lille fall into the Europa league; Montpellier win in Paris

Lyon 2 – Le Mans 0 (Ligue 1, May 15, 2010) Lyon secured second spot, and an immediate passage into the Champions League, with a 2-0 win over a Le Mans outfit already destined for the second tier. Bafetimbi Gomis and Miralem Pjanic helped to see Claude Puel’s side to victory on home soil.

Marseille 2 – Grenoble 0 (Ligue 1, May 15, 2010) Champions Marseille ensured that they signed off in style as goals from Mamadou Niang and Hatem Ben Arfa saw them past already-relegated Grenoble.

Lorient 2 – Lille 1 (Ligue 1, May 15, 2010) Ricardo Costa fired the visitors in front on 32 minutes but Kevin Gameiro levelled five minutes later. Yann Jouffre then struck on 66 minutes to hand Lorient all three points and ruin Lille’s night as they ended the season with only a Europa League berth.

Nancy 1 – Valenciennes 1 (Ligue 1, May 15, 2010) Nancy and Valenciennes also ended one apiece, with Youssouf Hadji breaking the deadlock after 38 minutes. Benjamin Angoua levelled on 64 minutes, before Hadji went from hero to villain in stoppage-time as he was sent for an early bath.

Boulogne 1 – Rennes 0 (Ligue 1, May 15, 2010) Out of nowhere Boulogne won a penalty when Petter Hansson handled in the box, allowing Gregory Thil to convert from 12 yards and end the season on a high for the hosts.

PSG 1 – Montpellier 3 (Ligue 1, May 15, 2010) Geoffrey Dernis scored twice for Montpellier to add to a strike from Lilian Compan. Mevlut Erdinc grabbed PSG’s sole reply.

Sochaux 1 – Auxerre 2 (Ligue 1, May 15, 2010) Auxerre’s last-gasp 2-1 win at Sochaux meant they finished third. Cedric Hengbart scored twice for Auxerre, the winner coming in the final minute, after Ideye Brown had cancelled out his early opener. Sochaux’s challenge faded with the 61st-minute dismissal of Damien Perquis.

Nice 1 – St. Etienne 1 (Ligue 1, May 15, 2010) Loic Remy scored early for Nice but Emmanuel Riviere equalised with 21 minutes to go.
