Lyon go top after Bordeaux crash to Nancy; Valenciennes dent Lille’s hopes; Saint Etienne open up 9-point drop cushion

Rennes 1 – Lyon 2 (Ligue 1, April 3, 2010) Asamoah Gyan gave Rennes the lead in the 15th minute. Lyon staged a fine second half comeback with goals from Michel Bastos (an explosive finish) and Lisandro Lopez (great header).

Bordeaux 1 – Nancy 2 (Ligue 1, April 3, 2010) Youssouf Hadji put Nancy into a surprise 18th minute lead at Bordeax, before the hosts pulled level through Fernando Cavenaghi ten minutes later. But Laurent Blanc’s title hopefuls suffered a shock loss when in-form striker Issiar Dia followed up a hat-trick last weekend with the 72nd minute winner.

Valenciennes 1 – Lille 0 (Ligue 1, April 3, 2010) Aurelien Chedjou struck the crossbar for Lille in the first half before Mamadou Samassa snaffled the points for Valenciennes with an 82nd minute winner.

Saint Etienne 2 – Le Mans 0 (Ligue 1, April 3, 2010) Second half goals from Cedric Varrault and Yohan Benalouane sealed the win for the home side.

Montpellier 0 – Monaco 0 (Ligue 1, April 3, 2010) Montpellier are Lyon’s nearest challengers at the top of the table, but could only earn a point in a stalemate at home to ninth-placed Monaco.

Grenoble 1 – Lorient 2 (Ligue 1, April 3, 2010) Eighth-placed Lorient kept alive their slim hopes of European football next term with a 2-1 win at Grenoble. Nassim Akrour had put bottom club Grenoble in front after three minutes, only for Kevin Gameiro to equalise after 32 minutes and substitute James Fanchone to net the winner five minutes from time.
