Ligue 1: PSG cruise to victory at Sochaux; Valenciennes have happy away day at Rennes

Sochaux 1 – PSG 4 (Ligue 1, November 1, 2009) PSG were 1-up at the break thanks to Jeremy Clement’s 35th minute opener. Clement Chantome doubled the lead with a fine individual goal 10 minutes into the second half, and Mevlut Erdinc made it three with a 74th minute header. Sochaux got one back via a fine Stephane Dalmat strike five minutes from time, only for Peguy Luyindula to almost immediately restore the advantage.

Rennes 0 – Valenciennes 3 (Ligue 1, November 1, 2009) Bobo Balde, who spent eight seasons at Celtic before moving to northern France this year, broke the deadlock when he headed home from a free kick shortly before the hour. Midfielder Fahid Ben Khalfallah made it two 12 minutes from time by beating Nicolas Douchez from close range after a 30-yard run through the Rennes half and striker Gregory Pujol grabbed the third.

Nice 1 – Le Mans 0 (Ligue 1, November 1, 2009) Nice had to scrap for the points despite the 16th minute dismissal of Le Mans’ Camilo Antonio Geder. The only goal of the game came five minutes before the break from Ismael Gace, but the hosts failed to press home their numerical advantage.
