Coupe De France: Marseille survive a scare at Besancon; PSG & Monaco progress

Besancon 1 – Marseille 1* (Pens. 4-5) (Coupe De France, January 4, 2009) Non-league Besancon looked set to record the shock of the weekend when they took the lead in the 66th minute, the home side’s number 10 did brilliantly to get himself into a shooting position only for Ronald Zubar to come steaming in and lob keeper Rudy Riou. But Marseille forced the match into extra time when Taiwo levelled from the spot five minutes from time. WIth neither side finding a winner the match went to penalties where Marseille won a nail-biting shootout.

Blagnac 0 – Monaco 1 (Coupe De France, January 4, 2009) Blagnac, playing in the fifth tier in the French football, could not have provided a less glamorous setting for their cup match for Monaco. The Ligue 1 side took the lead when Marquet diverted a right wing cross into his own net.

Montlucon 0 – PSG 1 (Coupe De France, January 4, 2009) A Stephane Sessegnon header from Rothen’s corner gave the Cup holders passage to the next round.
