Vitesse edge Roda in 7-goal thriller as RKC Waalwijk lose again in the Eredivisie; Besitkas frustrated in Turkey; Goals from Poland

Roda 3 – Vitesse Arnhem 4 (Eredivisie, August 28, 2009) Lars Nilsson’s opener after just one minute was cancelled out by Mads Junker but Nicky Hofs restored Vitesse’s lead before halftime. Frank van der Struiijk’s own goal made it 2-2 early in the second period and Anour Hadouir then put Roda 3-2 ahead. Sinan Kaloglu grabbed an equaliser for Vitesse and Santi Kolk then popped up with the winner one minute from time.

RKC Waalwijk 0 – Den Haag 2 (Eredivisie, August 28, 2009) RKC slumped to their fifth straight defeat at home to ADO Den Haag as their nightmare start to the Eredivisie season continued, Bogdan Milic and Wesley Verhoek scored either side of halftime to earn ADO their second away victory of the campaign.


Besiktas 0 – Gaziantepspor 0 (Super Lig, August 28, 2009) Nihat Kahveci came the closest to finding a breakthrough for Besitkas when his shot cannoned off the post.


Legia Warsaw 1 – Polonia Bytom 0 (Ekstraklasa, August 28, 2009) After 18 minutes Sebastian Szalachowski darted into the box and finished an attack with a high shot into the roof of the net.

Piast Gliwice 2 – Odra Wodzislaw 1 (Ekstraklasa, August 28, 2009) Pawel Gamla’s winner for Piast, a bending 25-yard effort that pierced the top corner, was good enough to win any game of football.
