The Eredivisie play-offs; Lech Poznan win the Polish Cup

MVV Maastricht 2 – De Graafschap 3 (Eredivisie promotion/relegation play-offs first-leg, May 19, 2009) On-loan Chelsea striker Ben Sahar fired De Graafschap in front inside the opening 60 seconds, before Stijn Wuytens doubled their lead on 34 minutes. Five minutes later Oussama Assaidi appeared to have ended the game as a contest when he notched a third for the visitors, but MVV rallied. Gideon Boateng handed them a lifeline four minutes before the interval and Gunter Thiebaut coolly converted an 80th minute penalty to ensure the second leg remains competitive.

Ruch Chorzow 0 – Lech Poznan 1 (Polish Cup final, May 19, 2009) Slawomir Peszko scored the only goal shortly after halftime as Lech won the Polish Cup for a fifth time.

Sandefjord 2 – Rosenborg 2 (Tippeligaen, May 19, 2009) After taking a 2-goal lead through Trond Olsen and former Sunderland player Rade Prica, Sandefjord’s Admir Rascic drew the hosts back into the game before a horrendous fumble by Rosenborg keeper Rune Jarstein allowed Samuel Isaksen to level in the 70th minute.
