NEC beat NAC; Struggling Sporting lose more ground in Portugal; Linz knock Rapid for four

NEC 4 – NAC 2 (Eredivisie, February 12, 2010) (Longer highlights here.) A pair of Jeffery Sarpong corners set up Bram Nuytinck to score a first half double. NAC replied with goals from Ferne Snoyl and Anthony Lurling before halftime. But NEC grabbed two quickfire goals at the start of the second half through Arek Radomski and Patrick Pothuizen to secure the victory.

Pacos Ferreira 0 – Sporting Lisbon 0 (Liga Sagres, February 12, 2010) The draw sees Sporting move to 28 points and leaves the struggling Lisbon giants in danger of being overtaken in the table by Uniao Leiria and Maritimo as they prepare to face Everton in the Europa League on Tuesday night.

LASK Linz 4 – Rapid Vienna 2 (T-Mobile Bundesliga, February 12, 2010) Goals from Florian Metz and Jurgen Panis put LASK 2-up before Panis further increased the advantage seven minutes after the restart. Stefan Hoffmann pulled one back for the league leaders two minutes later only for Christoph Saurer to restore Linz’s 3-goal cushion 12 minutes from time. Hoffmann hit a second for the visitors late on but the damage was already done as Rapid slipped to their third loss of the season to see their lead over Salzburg remain at two points, having now played one game more than their nearest rivals.
