AZ Alkmaar 3 – Heerenveen 1 (Eredivisie, May 10, 2009) Mounir El Hamdaoui rifled a terrific shot into the roof of the net to give champions AZ a 13th minute lead over Heerenveen. Moussa Dembele crashed in number two on the stroke of halftime with a low shot from the edge of the box. Just before the hour mark Moussa Dembele grabbed his second, forcing the ball over the line despite three Heerenveen defenders trying to defend the goal. Patrik Ingelsten netted a consolation three minutes from time.
Feyenoord 2 – Roda 3 (Eredivise, May 10, 2009) Roda started well as Sekou Cisse put them ahead on 14 minutes and things got better as Dwight Teindalli was sent off soon after for Feyenoord. Marcel Meeuwis doubled Roda’s lead with a penalty before Feyenoord hit back with a clinical strike on the half volley from Roy Makaay. Anouar Hadouir fired home a third for the visitors who were fighting for their top flight lives before Makaay pulled another back from the penalty spot. The hosts had Kevin Hofland dismissed, as Roda managed to hang on.
De Graafschap 2 – FC Volendam 2 (Eredivisie, May 10, 2009) Stephan Keller had given the home side the edge after 55 minutes but Volendam then gave themselves some real hope as Gerson Sheotahul (64) and Jack Tuyp (68) scored. But then their dreams were shattered as Gerry Koning put through his own net to gift De Graafschap an equaliser. Volendam were relegated, De Graafschap go to a relegation play-off.
ADO Den Haag 3 – Vitesse 1 (Eredivisie, May 10, 2009) Den Haag saved themselves after a comfortable 3-1 win over Vitesse Arnhem. The home side were in control early on as Danny Bujis (17) and Karim Soltani (22) put them 2-up. Bujis’ second on the hour secured the win, although Vitesse managed a late consolation through Ricky van Wolfswinkel.
Groningen 1 – NAC 0 (Eredivisie, May 10, 2009) Sixth-placed Groningen ended the season with victory over NAC with Andreas Granqvist getting the winner on the stroke of halftime.
Heracles 1 – FC Utrecht 1 (Eredivisie, May 10, 2009) Heracles looked to be heading for victory as Mark-Jan Fledderus scored (24), but Cedric van der Gun sealed a point for the visitors with his goal in injury time.
NEC 1 – Sparta 1 (Eredivisie, May 10, 2009) Sparta took the lead through Erik Falkenburg (25), but NEC made sure they avoided defeat as Bas Sibum levelled just before the interval.
Leixoes 0 – Academica Coimbra 1 (Superliga, May 10, 2009) Lito grabbed the only goal in the first half.
PAOK Saloniki 0 – Panathinaikos 1 (Greek Super League play-offs, May 10, 2009) Giorgos Karagounis scored a goal with just three minutes to play to lead Pana to victory.
AEK Athens 3 – Larissa 2 (Greek Super League play-offs, May 10, 2009) Ismael Blanco converted a late penalty to help AEK beat visiting Larissa 3-2. Michalis Pavlis and Gustavo Manduca also scored for AEK while Facundo Parra and Sasa Ilic scored for Larissa.
Zenit St. Petersburg 2 – Krylya Sovietov Samara 0 (Russian Premier League, May 10, 2009) Konstantin Zyrianov slipped Zenit into the lead over Samara after a period of consistent pressure from the hosts on the hour. Pavel Pogrebnyak grabbed the second, tapping home from close range with 20 minutes remaining.
Dinamo Moscow 1 – CSKA Moscow 2 (Russian Premier League, May 10, 2009) Dinamo got off to a quick start after the Kambarov brothers created the first goal for the hosts after five minutes â€“ Dmitry shot past CSKA keeper Igor Akinfeev after a great cross from his twin Kirill. Tomas Necid equalised for CSKA in minute 78 and Vassili Berezoutski netted the winner in added time.
Wisla Krakow 1 – Legia Warsaw 0 (Ekstraklasa, May 10, 2009)
Malmo 2 – Djurgarden 1 (Allsvenskan, May 10, 2009) Wilton Figueiredo scored off a rebound to give Malmo FF a 2-1 win over Djurgarden.
Esbjerg 1 – Brondby 2 (SAS Ligaen, May 10, 2009) Brondby were 2-up by halftime courtesy of a strike from Alexander Farnerud (19) and Morten Duncan Rasmussen’s penalty (42). Jesper Lange pulled one back 20 minutes from the end but it was not enough to stop Brondby moving to within a win of the summit with four matches remaining.
