Roda 1 – FC Twente 2 (Eredivisie, October 31, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) Two goals in the space of seven first-half minutes from Bryan Ruiz and on-loan Chelsea striker Miroslav Stoch put the visitors in control, but they had to endure a nervy finish after Jeanvion Yulu-Matondo put the hosts back in it 11 minutes after the break.

PSV 1 – Vitesse 0 (Eredivisie, October 31, 2009) Balazs Dzsudzsak’s fifth league goal of the season settled th ematch in PSV’s favour.


FC Moscow 1 – Zenit St. Petersburg 0 (Russian Premier League, October 31, 2009) Zenit’s title challenge came to an end five minutes from time as Aleksandr Sheshukov snatched a winner for the hosts.


Anderlecht 2 – Lokeren 0 (Jupiler League, October 31, 2009) Anderlecht coasted to victory against struggling Lokeren thanks to a goal apiece from Romelu Lukaku and Matias Suarez.

Club Brugge 1 – Sint-Truiden 0 (Jupiler League, October 31, 2009) The leaders did not have an easy time of it against St Truidense, Ronald Vargas eventually scoring the only goal in the 73rd minute.

Zulte-Waregem 2 – Charleroi 2 (Jupiler League, October 31, 2009) Goals from Kevin Roelandts and Ludwin Vannieuwenhuyse looked to have set Zulte on the way to victory but substitute Habib Habibou levelled in injury time.

Westerlo 2 – Roeselare 2 (Jupiler League, October 31, 2009) Goals in the last six minutes from Damir Mirvic and Stefan Nikolic saw bottom side Roeselare fight back to draw 2-2 with Westerlo.

Kortrijk 2 – Mechelen 0 (Jupiler League, October 31, 2009) Fourth-placed KV Mechelen went down to a 2-0 defeat at KV Kortrijk, Ebrahim Savaneh and Mohamed Messoudi netting.


Braga 2 – Benfica 0 (Superliga, October 31, 2009) Hugo Viana scored in the seventh minute and Paulo Cesar in the 78th to snap Benfica’s winning streak at seven games. Braga’s Andre Leone and Benfica’s Oscar Cardozo were both sent off at the end of the first half following a fracas in the players tunnel.

Naval 1 – Leixoes 0 (Superliga, October 31, 2009) Mehdi Kerrouche scored the only goal of the game as Naval defeated 10-man Leixoes 1-nil. Ricardo Joel was sent off for Leixoes in the 90th minute.


Besiktas 1 – Ankaragucu 0 (Super Lig, October 31, 2009) Besiktas stayed in the hunt in fourth place after beating Ankaraagucu 1-0 thanks to Ismail Koybasi’s 16th minute strike.

Antalyaspor 1 – Bursaspor 1 (Super Lig, October 31, 2009) Bursaspor fell behind to Serge Djiehoua’s 24th minute strike before eventually levelling 20 minutes from time through Ivan Ergic (handball?).


Atromitos 0 – Olympiakos 1 (Greek Super League, October 31, 2009) In a match marred by violence, Luciano Galletti found Oscar unmarked in the area in the 80th minute and the Brazilian midfielder easily slotted in the winner.

PAOK 1 – Xanthi 0 (Greek Super League, October 31, 2009) Vladimir Ivic’s last minute winner gave PAOK the points.
