Karim Soltani then notched a third on 63 minutes before Civard Sprockel grabbed a consolation for Vitesse in the dying seconds.
Willem II 0 – Heracles 1 (Eredivisie, August 22, 2009) Bas Dost notched the only goal of the game on 66 minutes, condemning the hosts to a third consecutive defeat.
Zulte-Waregem 0 – Anderlecht 2 (Jupiler League, August 22, 2009) Mbark Boussoufa’s 43rd minute goal and Romelu Lukaku’s strike two minutes from the end ensured that Anderlecht stay clear on top of the Belgium league.

Krylya Sovietov 2 – Rostov 2 (Russian Premier League, August 22, 2009) Jan Koller put Krylya ahead three minutes into the second half, only for Dmitri Akimov to equalised four minutes later. Oleg Ivanov restored the home side’s lead in the 55th minute but Mersudin Ahmetovic earned a point for Rostov 10 minutes from the end.
FC Moscow 3 – Saturn 1 (Russian Premier League, August 22, 2009) Martin Jakubko opened the scoring after just two minutes and Igor Strelkov added a second in the 75th minute before Benoit Angbwa pulled a goal back for the visitors two minutes from the end. Alexander Samedov netted in stoppage-time to make sure of the win for the home side.
CSKA Moscow 2 – Khimki 1 (Russian Premier League, August 22, 2009) Tomas Necid put the Muscovites ahead in the 14th minute and Milos Krasic doubled their lead eight minutes later. The visitors, with just two wins all season, pulled a goal back through Alexsandr Antipenko.
