CSKA late show downs Spartak; Rostov derail Lokomotiv; IFK, Malmo & Elfsborg grab home wins; Rosenborg edge 7-goal thriller with Haugesund

Spartak Moscow 1 – CSKA Moscow 2 (Russian Premier League, August 1, 2010) Spartak looked set for the three points when CSKA defender Vasili Berezutski turned a 73rd minute cross into his own net but CSKA hit back seven minutes from time when Sergey Ignashevich scored a picture-perfect free-kick into the near post. Then, in injury time, striker Vagner Love popped up to claim the three points for the visitors.

Lokomotiv Moscow 0 – Rostov 1 (Russian Premier League, August 1, 2010) Artur Valikaev put Rostov in front in the first half, and Lokomotiv’s night worsened when striker Oleksandr Aliyev saw red for a miserable dive in the box 20 minutes from time.

IFK Gothenburg 3 – Kalmar 1 (Allsvenskan, August 1, 2010) IFK moved within a point of Kalmar in sixth with a 3-1 home victory. Hannes Stiller put them in front after 10 minutes before a quickfire Tobias Hysen double put the hosts well clear.

Malmo 1 – GAIS 0 (Allsvenskan, August 1, 2010) After missing a couple of guilt-edged opportunities, Malmo finally broke the deadlock when Ivo Pekalski headed home a 22nd minute header.

Elfsborg 1 – Gefle 0 (Allsvenskan, August 1, 2010) A solitary Stefan Ishizaki strike midway through the first half proved enough for the Elves.

Rosenborg 4 – Haugesund 3 (Tippeligaen, August 1, 2010) Runaway leaders Rosenborg were given a big shock as their unbeaten record withstood a major test. Steffen Iversen’s 11th minute opener was wiped out by quick-fire goals from Nikola Djurdjic (super move) and Are Tronseth by the 20th. Two minutes later it was 2-2 as Vladim Demidov headed home a corner, but Haugesund went into the break in front when Joakim Vage Nilsen rifled home a low free-kick from distance. Five minutes after the restart Steffen Iversen levelled with a mishit volley and Steffen Iversen stole the headlines with a hat-trick 15 minutes from time after a horror clearance from the Haugesund keeper.

Honefoss 2 – Odd Grenland 1 (Tippeligaen, August 1, 2010) Umaru Bangura’s curling 25-yarder put Honefess in front after 20 minutes, but Odd looked like grabbing a point when Peter Kovacs turned in an 80th minute cross. The relegation-threatened hosts stayed strong though and a minute from time Madiou Konate notched the winner from close range.

Brann 1 – Molde 1 (Tippeligaen, August 1, 2010) Erik Huseklepp (fine free-kick) and Makhtar Thioune traded strikes in the second as neither side notched the three points they both needed.

Tromso 3 – Stabaek 0 (Tippeligaen, August 1, 2010) George Mourad’s double and a third from Remi Johansen kept Tromso in second place.

Stromsgodset 3 – Aalesund 1 (Tippeligaen, August 1, 2010) Oyvind Storflor got the ball rolling for Godset with a quickly taken free-kick in the 39th. Vilsvik’s penalty midway through the second half extended the lead, but Peter Orry Larsen halved the deficit with 12 minutes remaining. A third from Lars Saetra killed the match just two minutes later.
