AZ struggle past Ajax’s kids in the Dutch Cup; Sint-Truiden take a pasting in Belgium; Goals from Serie B & Norway

AZ Alkmaar 2 – Jong Ajax 0 (AET) (KNVB Beker, September 22, 2009) Dutch champions AZ Alkmaar needed extra time to get past Jong Ajax, Moussa Dembele’s quickfire double at the start of the added period secured a 2-0 win.

Heracles 1 – RKC Waalwijk 0 (KNVB Beker, September 22, 2009) Heracles narrowly escaped with victory against league strugglers RKC with Kwame Quansah netting the crucial winner.

Vitesse 5 – Top Oss 2 (KNVB Beker, September 22, 2009) Nicky Hofs scored a hattrick before the break, while Rogier Molhoek and Claudemir scored for the Arnhem side as well. The guests pegged two back after falling 4-0 behind, but never looked like seriously threatening Vitesse and had to setle for a loss.

However, once again Vleminckx decided the match with a somewhat controversial goal in the dying minutes of the game.

FC Volendam 1 – Sparta 2 (KNVB Beker, September 22, 2009) Erik Falkenburg gifted the Rotterdam side the lead, but Volendam star Melvin Platje levelled the score after 85 minutes of play. Substitute Lerin Duarte shot Sparta to the next round though in the dying minutes of over-time.

Sint-Truiden 2 – Racing Genk 4 (Jupiler League, September 22, 2009) The league leaderswere blown out the water by Genk, who went ahead with a goal from Marvin Ogunjimi in the 6th minute. Elianiv Barda made it two before Thomas Buffel put the visitors 3-up by the half hour. Sint-Truiden did fight back in the second half with goals from Vincent Euvrard and Alex da Silva, but Moussa Koita ended the home side’s hopes with six minutes to go.
