Willem II 1 – Roda 3 (Eredivisie, December 13, 2009) Mads Junker opened the scoring on 18 minutes before Christophe Gregoire levelled proceedings three minutes later via the penalty pot. Ruud Vormer restored Roda’s advantage on 68 minutes and Junker sealed the vital three points with his second 19 minutes from time.

Sparta 2 – FC Groningen 4 (Eredivisie, December 13, 2009) Tomas Enevoldsen netted in the 12th, 28th and 40th minutes, while team-mate Matavz scored in the 23rd minute as the visitors dominated the first period. The home side replied via Erik Falkenburg (19) and substitute Sander Van Gessel (64) but Groningen held on for the much-needed win to pull three points clear of the drop zone.

Vitesse 2 – FC Utrecht 2 (Eredivisie, December 13, 2009) Lasse Nilsson put the home side ahead from the spot in the 27th minute before Utrecht took the lead after goals from Ricky van Wolfswinkel (31) and Jacob Mulenga (41). Claudemis Domingues de Souza netted in the 89th minute to earn a share of the spoils for Vitesse.

ADO Den Haag 1 – Heracles 4 (Eredivisie, December 13, 2009) Bas Dost scored a quick-fire brace (7, 22) to put the visitors firmly in control before Danny Buys pulled one back on 71 minutes to set up a nervy finale. Marko Matic restored the two-goal advantage on 83 minutes and Willie Overtoom added a fourth in stoppage-time to ensure Heracles ran out comfortable winners.


FC Porto 2 – Vitoria Setubal 0 (Superliga, December 13, 2009) Porto are just a point behind after recording a 2-0 win over Vitoria Setubal, Ernesto Farias and Varela grabbing the goals.

Braga 0 – Naval 0 (Superliga, December 13, 2009) The home side were unable to find a way through but move back above Benfica with both teams on 30 points from 13 games. Braga are top courtesy of a better head-to-head record.

Olympiakos 3 – Panthrakikos 0 (Greek Super League, December 13, 2009) Luciano Galletti set Zico’s team on their way with a 37th-minute opener. Brazilian midfielder Dudu scored either side of half-time to complete a resounding victory which moved the Reds on to 36 points after 14 matches. Panthrakikos have just two points following 12 defeats and two draws.

Larissa 2 – Panionios 2 (Greek Super League, December 13, 2009) Goundoulakis’ double for Panionios was cancelled out by Metin’s late double for Larissa.

AEK 3 – Levadiakos 2 (Greek Super League, December 13, 2009) Panagiotis Taxtsidis and Gustavo Manduca put AEK 2-0 up but the visitors levelled through Giorgos Barkoglou and Victor Agali. Manduca’s second on 57 minutes sealed the win for AEK.

Tavriya Symferopol 2 – Dynamo Kiev 3 (Ukrainian Premier League, December 13, 2009) On an ice-rink of a pitch in Tavriya, Artem Milevsky headed Dynamo Kiev into a 20th minute lead meeting a left-wing cross at the near post. A picture perfect free-kick from Andriy Shevchenko, arching the ball into the near top corner, doubled Kiev’s advantage, but just before the break Vasil Gigiadze turned in the box to pull a goal back for the hosts.
