Steven Gerrard is the substitute hat-trick hero as Liverpool beat Napoli 3-1

Liverpool 3 – Napoli 1 (Europa League, November 4, 2010) (Longer highlights.) Napoli took the lead at Anfield just before the half hour, Cavani set Ezequiel Lavezzi away and the diminutive Argentine finished past Reina. With fifteen minutes to go half-time substitute Steven Gerrard equalised capitalising on a poor back pass. Two goals on 88 and 89 from Gerrard completed a remarkable 45 minute appearance from the Liverpool captain and a fine win for Roy Hodgson’s re-emerging side. Gerrard’s second goal was from the penalty spot after Glen Johnson had been fouled and the third was a cheeky dink after Lucas had won the ball back. (Steven Gerrard’s second and third goals v Napoli.)
