Wolves win at Ipswich with help from Tommy Smith’s comedy own goal; Huddersfield sink Sheffield Wednesday 3-1

Ipswich 0 – Wolves 2 (Championship, September 19, 2012) Tommy Smith scored a comedy own goal when he turned in Bakary Sako’s free-kick from the edge of the six-yard box. Mali international Tongo Doumbia added a second for Wolves with a fierce drive from outside the area that gave goalkeeper Scott Loach no chance.

Sheffield Wednesday 1 – Huddersfield 3 (Championship, September 19, 2012) Town took a two-goal lead through Oliver Norwood, who scored on the rebound after his initial penalty was saved, and Lee Novak’s header. Reda Johnson’s header made it 2-1 and Town had Joel Lynch sent off for a late tackle, but Wednesday’s Joe Mattock was then red carded for a second booking. Adam Clayton scored the third from the spot after a handball in the area.
