Wigan 0 – Bolton 0 (Premier League, February 17, 2010) Charles N’Zogbia came closest to breaking the deadlock when he hit the post as relegation rivals Wigan and Bolton fought out a drab goalless draw.

Derby 5 – Preston 3 (Championship, February 16, 2010) Preston took a 10th minute lead through Jon Parkin’s 10th goal of the season. The Rams got lucky when Billy Jones turned the ball into his own net on 34 minutes before Kris Commons fired them ahead after the break. Chris Sedgewick levelled in the 62nd minute but Rob Hulse restored Derby’s lead a minute later. Shaun Barker made it 4-2 after 68 minutes before Hulse netted his second. Chris Brown grabbed an injury time header for Preston.

Blackpool 2 – Middlesbrough 0 (Championship, February 16, 2010) Gordon Strachan’s poor start to his Middlesbrough career continued as his team went down 2-0 to Blackpool despite playing against 10 men for the last half hour. Brett Ormerod and DJ Campbell grabbed the goals for the home side, while Scott McDonald saw a penalty saved by Matthew Gilks at the other end.

Plymouth 1 – Swansea 1 (Championship, February 16, 2010 )Darren Pratley had given the away side the lead just after halftime when he slotted beneath David Stockdale. Argyle were awarded a late penalty, a chance Jamie Mackie seemed to have wasted when Dorus De Vries saved; the keeper repeated the feat from the retaken kick by Damien Johnson, but the Plymouth midfielder was alert to the rebound.
