VIDEO: Sunderland’s Bent hits trips past Bolton; Brum get revenge on Pompey; Koren thunderbolt leads Baggies over Owls; Leeds hit Tranmere for four

Sunderland 4 – Bolton 0 (Premier League, March 9, 2010) Despite coming into the match without a win in 14 matches, Sunderland needed just 41 seconds to move ahead of Bolton in a massive 6-pointer when Cana looped a high cross to Frazier Campbell at the back post and the striker converted on the volley. Bolton fell further behind early in the second half when Darren Bent ran through to finish well. Bolton’s Sam Ricketts was dismissed for the foul that led to Bent’s second from the penalty spot before the Bent slotted a fourth late on to claim a second half hattrick. Portsmouth 1 – Birmingham 2 (Premier League, March 9, 2010) After Cameron Jerome fired Birmingham into a 16th minute lead at Pompey, Birmingham bagged a second just before the interval when Benitez played a beautiful backheel through to Jerome in the box and the forward grabbed his brace. (First half highlights here.) Substitute Kanu headed home Jamie O’Hara’s cross to ensure a tight finish but Pompey could not grab an equaliser.


West Brom 1 – Sheffield Wednesday 0 (Championship, March 9, 2010) Roberto Di Matteo’s side secured maximum points with Robert Koren firing home a beauty with just 11 minutes remaining.

Tranmere 1 – Leeds 4 (League One, March 9, 2010) Robert Snodgrass’ opener was added to by Jermaine Beckford’s penalty before John Welsh pulled a goal back for Rovers, but Luciano Becchio made it 3-1 by the break and Beckford rounded off the win.
