VIDEO: 10-man Manchester United make their point at Aston Villa; Chelsea lose at Everton; Arsenal edge Liverpool; West Ham beat Brum; Hull lose at Rovers; Wolves claim Spurs double

Aston Villa 1 – Manchester United 1 (Premier League, February 10, 2010) (MOTD highlights here.) Villa punctured Manchester United’s momentum by taking an 18th minute lead, Carlos Cuellar the unlikely goalscorer as the defender looped a header over Van der Sar following an inswinging cross from Downing. Within four minutes United were level, Nani swung in a cross from and right and Ryan Giggs saw his volley deflect into the net off James Collins for United’s fourth own goal in two games. United’s evening worsened just before the half hour after Nani received a straight red for a tough tackle on Petrov in the centre of the pitch. Everton 2 – Chelsea 1 (Premier League, February 10, 2010) (MOTD highlights here.) Chelsea got their noses in front at Goodison Park adopted route one tactics, a Cech goal-kick was flicked on by Drogba to Florent Malouda and the winger rifled a left-footed past Howard. In the 32nd minute Everton levelled from a corner, Donovan swung the ball into the near post and Luis Saha got in front of his marker to head home. Everton should have taken the lead on the stroke of halftime when Donovan won a penalty but Petr Cech saved Saha’s too central spot-kick. (First half highlights here.) The title race was then blow wide open 15 minutes from time was Luis Saha capitalised on a mistake from John Terry to lash home Everton’s second past an outstretched Cech.

Arsenal 1 – Liverpool 0 (Premier League, February 10, 2010) Arsenal had the better of the chances against Liverpool in the first half (highlights here) but in truth neither side looked like breaking the deadlock in opening 45. Midway through the second half Arsenal struck, Tomas Rosicky swung over a cross from the right and Abou Diaby rose high to crash a header into the Reds’ net. The game ended in acrimony when Liverpool were denied a decision after Steven Gerrard’s injury time had free-kick struck Cesc Fabregas’ raised hand. West Ham 2 – Birmingham 0 (Premier League, February 10, 2010) (MOTD highlights here.) The deadlock was broken on the stroke of half-time with as Alessandro Diamanti curled home a brilliant free-kick on the edge of the box. The Hammers claimed the win they deserved on 67-minutes as Carlton Cole headed home from point-blank range after good work down the right from Julien Faubert.

Blackburn 1 – Hull 0 (Premier League, February 10, 2010) The only goal of the game at Ewood Park after just 16-minutes at it was one to forget for Tigers keeper Boaz Myhill. Martin Olsson did brilliantly to battle his way down the left and he go to the by-line and from an acute angle fired his into the back of the net, albeit in no small way thanks the inside of Myhill’s leg.

Wolves 1 – Tottenham 0 (Premier League, February 10, 2010) (MOTD highlights here.) Tottenham missed the chance to move back into the top four as they suffered a 1-0 loss at Wolves – who move out of the bottom three courtesy of the win. The only goal of the game at Molineux arrived just before the half-hour when Matt Jarvis’ cross was met by David Jones, who swept the ball past Heurelho Gomes.
