Jordan Rhodes at the double
Norwich’s play-off hopes are surely now all over after they were beaten by the sixth team in the Championship 5-1 at Hillsborough Stadium on Saturday.
This result leaves the Canaries nine points adrift of Sheffield Wednesday who are in sixth and just about keeping in touch with the other sides in the play-off positions.
Ross Wallace bagged the opener on 15 minutes with a long range finish after a poor kick out by Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy.
On 22 minutes gone it was 2-0 to Sheffield Wednesday as Norwich were dispossessed in their own half and Fernando Foristieri crossed for Jordan Rhodes to head home.
A goal & two assists for Fernando Foristieri
Norwich halved the deficit seven minutes before the break when Cameron Jerome headed home from close range.
But, the two-goal Sheffield Wednesday lead was re-instated four minutes before half-time as Morgan Fox headed in from close range from a Foristieri corner.
The Championship match was wrapped up on 54, with Jordan Rhodes producing a diving header from Barry Bannan’s cross.
And, the rout was complete through the final goal by Fernando Foristieri on 66 – a fine strike.
