Millwall keep Leeds in League One for another year; Liverpool legends Rush, Aldridge & Dalglish score in Hillsbrough memorial match

Leeds 1 – Millwall 1 (Agg. 1-2) (League One play-offs, second-leg, May 14, 2009) After Jermaine Beckford had a 48th minute penalty saved by David Forde, Leeds moved ahead when Luciano Becchio slid home from close range in the 58th minute. But Millwall got their noses back in front, Jimmy Abdou proving the hero with a scrappy equaliser which the Lions defended until full time.

Liverpool Legends 3 – All Stars 1 (Hillsbrough Memorial match, May 14, 2009) A number of ex-Liverpool players turned out for the Hillsbrough Memorial match. Ian Rush claimed the first just after the half hour, finishing after Aldridge had seen his header saved. John Aldridge headed in the second from a McAllister cross after the break only for Teddy Sheringham to score the goal of the game for the All Stars with a fine chip. Kenny Dalglish was allowed the final word, finishing with a bit of help from Alan Stubbs and Bobby Mimms.
