Jose’s Inter lose to Chelsea; Arsenal hit seven in Austria; Tottenham hit Posh for four; Man City beat the Kaizer Chiefs

Chelsea 2 – Inter Milan 0 (World Football Challenge, July 21, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) Didier Drogba fired Chelsea into a 10th minute lead against Inter Milan and former boss Jose Mourinho with a long range effort that beat the keeper at the far post. Frank Lampard claimed the second from the penalty spot five minutes into the second half.

SC Columbia 1 – Arsenal 7 (Friendly, July 21, 2009) (Longer highlights here.) Nicklas Bendtner, Robin van Persie and Aaron Ramsey scored two apiece, William Gallas notching number seven, as Arsenal kicked off their mini-European tour with a comfortable victory over SC Columbia. Wenger’s side did suffer a minor embarrassment when a freakish goal from Patrick Lehner, robbing Almunia of possession, gave the amateurs a shock first half lead.

Peterborough 0 – Tottenham 4 (Friendly, July 21, 2009) Spurs’ strikers continue to bang in the goals during pre-season as Harry Redknapp continues to be linked with Peter Crouch. Goals from Tottenham were scored by Darren Bent,Jermain Defoe, Luka Modric and Roman Pavlyuchenko.

Kaizer Chiefs 0 – Manchester City 1 (Friendly, July 21, 2009) City found the breakthrough in injury time at the end of the first half, a quick run and cross from Kelvin Etuhu found Stephen Ireland running into the box, who scored from three yards out.
