Arsenal 1 – AC Milan 1 (Emirates Cup, July 31, 2010) Arsenal took the lead against AC Milan ten minutes before the break, Andrey Arshavin burst through the midfield and slipped in Marouane Chamakh to score his first goal at the Emirates. Just before the break, Rosicky came close to scoring the second for Arsene Wenger’s sideÂ but Abbiati saved with his legs. In the second half Chamakh wowed the Arsenal crowd with a cracking backheel in the box to free Arshavin. With fifteen minutes to go AC Milan took advantage of Arsenal’s weakness at set-pieces, Brazilian starlet Alexandre Pato heading home the equaliser.

Lyon 2 – Celtic 2 (Emirates Cup, July 31, 2010) A thunderous free-kick from Brazilian dead-ball specialist Michel Bastos gave Lyon a 28th minute lead over Celtic. 10 minutes after the break Lyon went 2-up, teenager Harry Novillo rifling in a second after connecting sweetly with a right wing cutback. Just as it looked like the Bhoys would lose on a whimper they rallied at the death beginning with debutant Gary Hooper converting a Forrest cross with a back-post volley. Celtic levelled a minute from time when Georgios Samaras converted a free header to complete the comeback.
