Caulker equaliser denies QPR; Forest win at Ipswich; Iversen lifts Palace out the bottom 3

QPR 2 – Bristol City 2 (Championship, January 3, 2011) Brett Pitman put the Robins in front on 50 minutes after an error from Clint Hill, but Alejandro Faurlin equalised just three minutes later. Adel Taarabt appeared to have won the match for Rangers with an 85th-minute penalty after Rob Hulse was fouled. But as the match entered injury time, Tottenham loanee Steven Caulker rose highest at the far post to head in Jamal Campbell-Ryce’s cross

Ipswich 0 – Nottingham Forest 1 (Championship, January 3, 2011) Ipswich conceded on the stroke of halftime when defender Damien Delaney skewed into his own net from David McGoldrick’s cross.

Crystal Palace 1 – Preston 0 (Championship, January 3, 2011) Palace’s newest Eagles, Steffen Iversen, scored the winner on his debut as the south Londoners secured a narrow win over fellow strugglers Preston. Iversen got on the end of a Kieron Cadogan cross to head home from close range in the second half.

Barnsley 2 – Coventry 1 (Championship, January 3, 2011) Nathan Doyle gave Barnsley a fourth-minute lead when he beat Keiren Westwood with a 30-yard strike. Nathan Cameron set up Freddy Eastwood to level matters for the visitors with his fourth of the season. Goran Lovre restored Barnsley’s lead when he was left alone to fire home before Aron Gunnarsson wasted a late chance to equalise for the visitors.

Huddersfield 1 – Sheffield Wednesday 0 (League One, January 3, 2011) A brilliant long range curler by Anthony Pilkington was the difference between the two sides.
