Brighton 3 – Reading 0
Chris Hughton’s Brighton side impressed in the evening Championship game on Saturday.
The Seagulls went top of the Championship, one point above Newcastle and perhaps more crucially, six points ahead of Huddersfield with much superior goal difference.
Brighton had to wait 35 minutes for their breakthrough, provided by Sam Baldock, bringing the ball down superbly off a lofted pass from Bruno Saltor.
Next up Newcastle!
Reading were put to the sword in the second half as Jaap Stam’s side once again came up shirt against the very best sides in the division.
Jamie Murphy made it 2-0 on 56 with a fine chip just after Reading had seen a shot cleared off the line.
And, the win was sealed for Reading with 10 minutes to go thanks to Anthony Knockaert with a fine shot into the far corner, off another break away.
Next up for Brighton: A huge home match against Newcastle on Tuesday evening.
