Arsenal show character coming back to beat Everton 2-1

Arsenal 2 – Everton 1 (Premier League, February 1, 2011) (Alternative highlights, MOTD highlights) Arsenal could have opened in the 15th minute but Cesc Fabregas dragged a shot wide following a lovely Van Persie backheel. The Gunners conceded a bad tempered goal after 24 minutes when Coleman’s through-ball found Louis Saha – who was three yards offside when the ball was kicked, despite Koscielny touching the ball on the way through – and the Frenchman rifled the ball home. Arsenal came close to equalising from a corner but Laurent Koscielny failed to convert Djourou’s flick-on at the back post. Minutes later it was Robin van Persie’s time to miss as the Dutchman lifted a lob over Howard but also over the bar. Midway through the second half Arsenal levelled as Cesc dinked a ball into the box that Rodwell failed to head clear and sub Andrey Arshavin watched the ball to perfection before volleying home from close range. Once level it took the Gunners just a few more minutes to take the lead, Van Persie swung in a corner that Laurent Koscielny powered home as the Arsenal’s title campaign got back on track.
